Key Ideas behind Amentum

  • India has many natural talents in sport of javelin but no formalized training systems

  • There are no school level training curriculums for Javelin and usually sport is taken by cricket players as side activity

  • No grassroot/school level coaches. PT coaches are usually ill equipped to train school kids

  • Most of the athletes depend on their natural abilities without access to formal coaching. This leads to career threatening injuries, no significant improvement overtime, waste of talent and end of promising careers at early stage

  • The access to equipment has improved with internet reaching far and wide but with no local manufacturers of javelins or spikes they are often expensive and it is difficult to start Javelin at individual level

  • Most of the talent for this sport comes from tier 2 cities, towns and villages they need to travel to big cities to enroll with a javelin coach which adds to above cost to even start the sport
